Last year, the World Series of Poker introduced the National Championship event, and due to its success, the event will be included in this year’s WSOP. The second annual National Championship qualifiers have been announced this week and include Tom “durrrr” Dwan, among other big name poker pros.
The event will take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on July 6th. The top 100 players from the 2011-2012 WSOP Circuit will be invited to play in the event with no buy-in necessary and a guaranteed $1 million prize pool. In addition, the top 100 performers from the past two years in all WSOP sanctioned events will be eligible to buy-in for $10K, which will go straight to the prize pool to add to the already $1-million-deep pool.
The complete list of qualifiers is below and contains 17 Main Event winners, 17 casino champions, and 66 others including big names like Jason Mercier, Jonathan Duhamel, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Michael Mizrachi, Ben Lamb, and Phil Hellmuth.
The event will be televised by ESPN.
