More Momentum for jungleman12

Another session and even more money is heading to Dan “jungleman12” Cates. We know that this game can be swingy, but this is getting ridiculous. It’s time we admit that although this thing isn’t over, it is going to be a serious uphill climb for durrrr to win. Let’s take a look at a couple of huge hands from the session played on March 30th.

Biggest hand of the session

Final Pot: $108574.00
durrrr shows Ts 7s (a pair of Sevens)
jungleman12 shows Qc 5c (King Queen high)
durrrr wins $108573.50

Analysis

Pre-flop, we see jungleman12 make a 3bet with the all powerful Q-5 suited and Dwan flatting that 3bet with the majestic 10-7 suited. Obviously, with both players being deep, especially jungleman12 with over 200 big blinds, 3bets aren’t quite as meaningful as they normally are. The flop bricked off jungleman12, who c-bet a small amount, and durrrr flatted with nothing more than bottom pair. The nine on the turn didn’t improve either player, but jungleman12 c-bet again, this time for about two-thirds pot, and durrrr flatted again. The river was a blank six and jungleman12 made a bizarre overbet shove, with durrrr making a sick hero call with just a pair of sevens. Clearly, jungleman12’s attempt at being Isildur1 with a weird overbet shove didn’t work and Dwan made a perfect hero read for one of the sickest calls in the history of the Durrrr Challenge.

Analysis

We don’t know what durrrr held here, but it’d be fun to guess. Pre-flop with Q-10 suited, jungleman12 3bet and durrrr flatted on the button. On the flop, jungleman12 flops an open-ended straight draw and c-bets, which durrrr calls. On the turn, jungleman12 picks up top pair and retains his open-ended straight draw, fires again for about two-thirds, and is called. Finally, jungleman12 tanks after hitting the second nuts with a queen-high straight and does yet another weird overbet shove, which Dwan calls off. This time, the meta-game paid off for Cates, who had his straight and was paid off by Dwan, who might have tried making another hero call given the last hand we analyzed.
